The Commissioner
Steynsrus Police
CHARGES OF VICTIMISATION AGAINST AO ERASMUS
Please refer to the insident reported on 19 November 2011 with reference : VB1165/11/2011.
Just to refresh your mind I was attacked on 11 June this year. During the arrest of my assailant and during the finalizing of the documents of the arrest, AO Erasmus treated me at the scene of arrest and at the police station as absolute dirt and transgress many prescriptions laid down by the Police Department. (He let me sit outside the police station and not out of sight of the public, he never made arrangements for medical care, etc, etc) I then laid charges at the ICD against AO Erasmus.
Now AO Erasmus is victimising me because I've laid charges against him. On 18 November at about 15:00 AO Erasmus threatened me in a shop in Steynsrus. His words were: "Ek weet jy het nie 'n lisensie nie en ek wil jou nie weer in die strate sien nie". The way he said these words was not in a friendly and concerned manner, it was a definite threat and I got the impression that he'll be on the look out for me and that he'll give me trouble at every opportunity. The fact is I've not even driven a car on that specific day, my uncle has, who was in another shop when AO Erasmus verbally attacked me in the shop.
There is no doubt in my mind that AO Erasmus has started a campaign of victimisation against me. I've got prove that AO Erasmus has told a member of the community of Steynsrus that he'll only wait for the trial on 16 November 2011, then he'll start to give me trouble because of the charges I laid at the ICD. On Sunday, 13 November, this member of the public told us in my sitting room what AO Erasmus has said about the victimisation and me. Wilma van Huysteen has witnessed this conversation as she was present at our house at that time. I withhold the name of this member of the public for the time being as this person and AO Erasmus are friends and might try to deny of what has been said.
To further emphasize that AO Erasmus is threatening and victimising me, the fact is that a lot his friends drives without a licence and is visiting him at home and what is AO Erasmus doing about them? Nothing! If needed I can reveal the names of his friends.
There should be no need to tell you as the Commissioner of Steynsrus, that victimisation is a serious crime and if committed by a member of the police, it's even worse. I see victimisation even more serious then an assault or even murder by the police. With victimisation there are no boundaries to the crime, you never know when and what will happen next. That means that the victim is stripped of freedom. When AO Erasmus crossed that line on Friday, that is exactly what happened to me, my family and my friends, our freedom was taken away! That is not only a crime, but it's totally against the Constitution of South Africa.
At this moment I'm more afraid of the Steynsrus Police than I'm afraid of the criminals out there. I don't think I'll ever trust the police again, at least not while AO Erasmus is in this town. This is wrong and I hope you'll do everything in your power to rectify this situation.
In the light of the seriousness of this crime and the fact that this crime can be proved and the fact that this crime was done directly against the Constitution, I expect that AO Erasmus be charged and brought to court.
Please keep me posted on the situation.
In the mean time I'll prepare my complaint to be submitted to the ICD.
I'll appreciate it if you'll acknowledge receipt of this document.
Thank you
